Student Camp

Interdisciplinary student camp to work alongside experts to develop solutions for real-life challenges of regional bio-based economy such as utilization paths for manure or optimization processes for biogas plants and bio-refineries.

As part of the Master's degree programme Biorefinery Engineering the "Student Camp" will take place as a free elective from 26. February - 2. March 2018.


Besides lectures and interactive Group works, participants see theory put into practice via excursions to institutions working in the bioenergy sector. Academic supervision will be provided by national and international experts from Graz University of Technology and University Twente.

Venue: Stempfergasse 7, 8010 Graz, Austria

Academic recognition: 3 ECTS


Students will work in multidisciplinary groups on challenges from municipalities, regional administration and other challenges of public interest related to the bio-economy.

Duration: Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 17:30 with two excursions and Joint dinner on Thursday.

Application procedure: Fill in and submit your registration online at and Register for LV 661.750 to receive ECTS.

Application Deadline: 30 January 2018

Student Profile: Master and PhD students with relevant educational background can apply.

Cost: The partcipation fee 240 Euro includes accomodation at Jufa Hotel Graz Süd, lunches, lectures, workshops, course materials and excursions. If no accomodation is needed, the participation fee is reduced to 120 Euro.
